Healthy Brain Ageing and Improved Therapies for Brain Disease
Research Theme Summary
The world population is aging and the number of people affected by neurological disorders associated with advanced age is growing. In this context, it is important both to improve or create novel therapies for conditions such as Alzheimer’s and other dementias, Parkinson’s disease, stroke, etc. but the prevention of these conditions is also fundamental. We have gathered researchers whose interest ranges from molecules and cells to human populations in a coordinated effort to contribute to the understanding of the mechanisms behind these neurological conditions, but also to identify lifestyle interventions that might substantially prevent the impact of these diseases in the population.

Results
During the workshop, participants from Chile and Sweden (14 researchers on-site and 5 on Zoom) presented their ongoing research. Based on shared research interests, several action points were identified.
These include: facilitating the sharing of data, increase education and research training, increase public outreach concerning lifestyle changes promoting healthy aging.
