ACCESS was created on the foundation of the strong historical links between Chile and Sweden. Despite the distance, the countries are well connected and both recognize the paramount importance of facing the global challenges with knowledge and research. With 7 years of successful efforts in connecting scholars and stakeholders from both Chile and Sweden ACCESS decided in 2021 to take the next step launching ACCESS 2.0 during the period 2021-2027. ACCESS 2.0 offers forums every 18 months and the first physical forum after the Corona pandemic was held in Punta Arenas, Chile in November 2022. The forum gathered 250 participants (PhD-students, researchers, university management and funding agencies) from both countries for workshop discussions focusing on 12 parallel Research Themes. ACCESS 2.0 will also in collaboration with STINT (The Swedish Foundation for International Cooperation in Research and Higher Education) offer funding possibilities for the development of joint courses for PhD:s and Postdocs through yearly calls for proposals.
